War in the Mountains

In order to assist the region's public school teachers in their work of educating our young people, the project will develop initiatives that will combine the broad lessons of the Appalachian Civil War with a spirit of adventure. Through these creative approaches, it is anticipated that the war as it was fought in the border region can inform the traditional understanding to which many students are primarily exposed.
